5-day FDP on Advancements in AI & ML: A Hands-on Approach
The Departments of Computer Science Engineering (Data Science) and Information Technology, in collaboration with the International Centre of Excellence for Data Science, AI and Futuristic Technologies, Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, successfully organized a comprehensive faculty development program (FDP) from 3 rd January 2024 to 9 th January 2024.
The primary objective of the FDP was to equip participants with both theoretical understanding and practical skills in the domain of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The event featured hands-on sessions where participants delved into advanced technologies including generative AI, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, among others. Eminent speakers from academia and industry graced the event, sharing their expertise and insights with the participants. Notable speakers included Prof. (Dr.) Amlan Chakrabarti, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Sarkar, Dr. Saptarsi Goswami, Mr. Ambarish Ganguly, and Dr. Anindita Desarkar, who covered various facets of AI and ML, enriching the learning experience for all attendees. Additionally, the hands-on training was led by experts Mr. Wazib Ansar and Mr. Sourav Malakar from Calcutta University, providing participants with practical guidance and expertise in applying AI and ML algorithms.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculties of the IT and CSE (DS) Departments, along with representatives from the Future Institute of Technology. Selected faculty members from the CSE, ECE, CA, and EE Departments of FIEM, nominated by their respective Heads of Departments, also benefited from this enriching experience.

Hands-on Workshop on “The Big Picture of Data Science”
Moments of the Hands-on Workshop on “The Big Picture of Data Science” jointly organised by the CSE (Data Science) Department of Future Institute of Engineering and Management in collaboration with Future Campus School. The Class-XII students belonging to science stream of FCS were the participants. The students of the CSE (Data Science) department were the primary resource persons. This one-day workshop turned out to be an excellent handholding avenue for transferring knowledge between the junior and senior “Futurites” in the most emerging area of Data Science, AI and Machine Learning, the recent technologies highly influencing our daily lives. The hands-on sessions were conducted in the recent setup Data Science Lab with the most advanced infrastructure conducive for high performance computing involving voluminous data and large scaled graphics. After every session there were running quiz questions on the contents sessions and instant goodies were gifted to the students. The workshop ended with a case study session deliberated by the Faculty and Staff Members of the CSE (Data Science) Department in the Smart Classroom.

The Students of CSE(DS) department, are organised Guruvarnan ’23 (Departmental Teachers’ Day celebration) on September 05, 2023, at Future Institute of Engineering and Management to express their gratitude for the contribution in shaping of lives. Prof. Tapas Roy, Vice-Principal of FIEM and Prof. Santanu Roy, HOD of CSE(DS) inaugurated the program along with others departmental faculty members. After that, various cultural events were performed by the departmental students and staff members. Finally, the program was conculcated with the motivational speech by respected Principal sir and Registrar sir of FIEM.

3-Day Workshop on Awareness of Cyber Security and Its Applications
Cyber Security is s broad aspect in which various computer security mechanisms are included. Ethical Hacking is subpart of cyber security and an authorized practice of detecting vulnerabilities in an application, system or organization’s infrastructure and bypassing system security to identify potential data breaches and threats in a network. This three days’ workshop is hosted with the prime intention of both theoretical and hands on session to familiarize and explore the topics discussed.
